Developer
Your role
Spherical is a software company, and developers create software. Though Spherical is a small company, we are proud of our software development discipline and our uncompromising stance on quality. We expect developers to unleash their creativity in their pursuit of elegant and efficient solutions, and to apply engineering ethics and discipline in process and product quality. Your daily work will include designing solutions, developing features, reviewing other developers' code, fixing bugs, and learning and sharing technical and business domain knowledge.
Requirements
An ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate:
- a practical and pragmatic approach to real world tasks, respect for the work done by others and an absence of urges to reinvent the wheel
- experience and active acceptance of (maybe even enthusiasm about!) structured development and quality assurance processes
- strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and the ability and willingness to help/teach and accept help / learn
- a strong background in mathematics, classical algorithms and data structures, and the ability to apply those to real world tasks
- excellent knowledge of and experience programming in Python; some tasks also require HTML, CSS and JavaScript

Project Manager
Your role
Spherical is a project-based environment – many of our activities are formulated as projects. Project managers are at the heart of individual projects – they coordinate planning, stakeholder interaction, budget, quality and risk characteristics, reporting of progress and motivating the project team to deliver.
Requirements
An ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate:
- completion of university-level studies in computer science, information technology or a related field
- training and certification in either PRINCE2 or PMI
- experience managing medium-sized IT projects
- experience working in international and multicultural environments
- experience working with global and remote teams and clients
- excellent written and spoken communication in English.
Location
Staff project managers are typically based at our headquarters in Bonn, Germany. Other arrangements are negotiable.
Business Analyst / Sales Engineer
Your role
IT projects are complex, and their complexity is often underestimated by everyone, from customers to developers. The task of a business analyst is to get the customer to present their business need in maximum detail, advise the customer on what is doable, suggest meaningful alternatives and, eventually, translate needs into formal implementable business requirements.
Requirements
An ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate:
- completion of university-level studies in computer science, systems engineering or a related field
- excellent written and spoken communication in English
- genuine optimism about and interest in people, and a strongly held belief that their intentions are good
- experience working in international and multicultural environments
- experience working with global and remote teams and clients.

Account Manager
Your role
The account manager is the company's face to a client throughout the lifetime of the relationship. They are assigned in the early stages of customer acquisition and support the customer through all sales, projects, services and support operations. We are committed to making every customer's journey with Spherical a success, and account managers are the main owners of customer satisfaction within the company.
Requirements
An ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate:
- completion of university-level studies in computer science, systems engineering or a related field, augmented with business administration studies and/or customer relationship management experience
- excellent written and spoken communication in English
- genuine optimism about and interest in people, and a strongly held belief that their intentions are good
- strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- experience working in international and multicultural environments
- experience working with global and remote teams and clients.

Account managers typically work remotely.
Internships and Apprenticeships
Spherical is a young company, but we do have rock star developers, talented business analysts and managers who are anything but pointy-haired. We believe in learning every day and growing talent from within, and we are happy to share interesting work, our knowledge and our success with young professionals. Internships with Spherical are subject to the following conditions:
- The minimum duration of an internship is three months. You are expected to report for duty for at least six hours on all working days during your internship.
- On-site and online arrangements are possible.
- All candidates are expected to submit a CV and a motivation letter detailing the goal of their application. Admission procedure will vary depending on the specialization, but generally you should expect a technical test and an interview.
- All internships are paid. You need to produce evidence that you have the right to be gainfully employed in the jurisdiction where you will be posted.
- Spherical cannot organize or pay for any travel or accommodation, or arrange visa support beyond confirming the existence of the offer.
- Spherical will produce a certificate of attendance with description of duties to all interns; high-performers will be given letters of recommendation.
